Doug Smith

Doug Smith drew Editorial Cartoons for Hometown Publications and Hersam Acorn Newspapers from 1990 to 2019. These companies published the Darien Times, New Canaan Advertiser, Ridgefield Press, Wilton Bulletin, Redding Pilot, Weston Forum, Shelton Herald, Trumbull Times, Huntington Herald, Milford Mirror, Monroe Courier and Stratford Star. He is a five-time recipient of the New England Newspaper & Press Association’s award for Editorial Cartooning and a two-time winner of the Connecticut Press Association’s award for Political Cartoons. He has given seminars and talks to various schools, libraries, civic organization and art guilds. While at Hersam Acorn, he hosted a podcast for his cartoons, ‘Drawing Conclusions. He has written several e-books available on Amazon.
